This beautiful girl was a stray dog born on the streets of Giannitsa, in Greece. One night during a thunderstorm, when Athena was still a young puppy, she crawled into a yard to protect herself. The owner of the house saw her and decided to keep her for a while. A few months later, she called the Agapi Gia Zoa team to pick her up as she could not keep her in her yard anymore. It is not common to own a big dog in Greece if not to guard your house, so most dogs remain outside and are not allowed to enter the house or given any affection. Athena is now looking for a loving home, ideally with a yard or garden, or alternatively someone with an active lifestyle who can spend time with her outdoor.
Athena is very sweet and friendly with other dogs. Despite her rather large size, she is young and still a puppy so she will need some basic training to learn how to be the perfect house dog! Greek shepherds are known to be quite independent and stubborn, but when socialised and trained, they become amazing and loving companions!
Athena has found a family, but we have 22 other dogs looking for a home.
