Hope For Dogs is a non-profit organisation committed to helping improve the condition of stray dogs around the world.
Many countries have no laws against animal cruelty. Those that do often fail to enforce them, leaving local animal lovers with very little support to care for the street dogs in their area.
Hope For Dogs works with rescue groups and organisations around the world to reduce overpopulation of dogs in shelters by finding them a family in Europe.
Hope For Dogs has no paid employees and relies solely on donations.
Rehoming is the main element of our mission, which is why we are committed to helping dogs in need find the forever home they deserve.
Through adoption, we want to free up space in shelters so that more dogs can be saved from abuse, starvation and death. Shelters across the world are overflowing and local rescues and volunteers simply don’t have the means and resources to care for all the dogs.
Through our donations, we help them fund emergency medical care, spay and neuter programs, vaccination, as well as rescue operations. Finally, we help facilitate transportation of dogs overseas to their new home.
We believe that every dog, regardless of its origin, breed, age and health, deserves to live a happy and peaceful life.
Together with partner rescues and volunteers around the world, we want to save dogs that are victims of abuse, cruelty and abandonment and give them a new start to a better life.
We want to encourage people to turn to adoption, rather than dog breeders and pet stores, which do not promote animal welfare.
Lastly, we wish to encourage individual initiatives helping animals and show local volunteers that they can count on our support.
Candice Alphandery, our founder, is a passionate advocate for animal protection and rescue. After a successful career as a campaign manager, she decided to focus on her commitment to helping animals.
While volunteering at a shelter in Thailand, Candice worked closely with dogs that had been abandoned, injured, or abused. She witnessed firsthand the harsh conditions street dogs face in these regions and the challenges faced by those caring for them with limited resources.
Her journey continued in Greece, where she met a dedicated team of local volunteers doing remarkable work to rescue and rehabilitate stray dogs. Moved by their tireless efforts and the impact they were making, Candice decided to adopt Fílos, a stray dog they had rescued from the streets.
Upon returning home, she realized that many people wanted to adopt rescue dogs but didn’t know how to navigate the process. Inspired by this gap, she left her corporate career and founded Hope For Dogs—a global platform connecting adopters with shelters and rescue organizations around the world.
Hope For Dogs partners with organizations and shelters across several countries, supporting their incredible efforts to rescue animals in need.
Most of our adoptable dogs come from shelters in Greece and Turkey, as well as from Ukraine, Bosnia, Morocco, and the United Arab Emirates. The local volunteers in these regions work tirelessly to care for and rehabilitate these animals, often with limited resources.
What they need most is visibility across Europe to connect these deserving dogs with their perfect forever homes. Through our partnership, we help bring attention to their vital work and give these rescued animals a second chance at life.
